Aman Spa at The Connaught Partners with The School of Natural Therapies

Aman Spa staff at the Connaught Hotel beign trained by our tutors

We are proud to announce that Aman Spa at The Connaught, one of London’s most iconic luxury spas, has partnered with The School of Natural Therapies to enhance their team’s expertise through two distinct, high-level training programmes. Our team was privileged to deliver advanced clinical sports and remedial massage training, as well as a specialised Diploma in Oncology Massage & Cancer Care, ensuring Aman Spa therapists are equipped to meet the diverse needs of their discerning clientele.

Elevating Clinical Expertise: Advanced Sports and Remedial Massage

The first phase of training was led by our experienced tutors, Joseph and Trevor, focusing on clinical sports and remedial massage techniques. This bespoke training empowered the Aman Spa team to deliver more effective treatments, addressing soft tissue dysfunction, promoting healing, and providing targeted rehabilitation advice to guests.

“The training we have received from The SNT team has enabled us to treat a range of soft tissue injuries and dysfunction as well as provide well-informed rehabilitation advice. The course was excellently executed by Joseph and Trevor, who have empowered us with the vital knowledge, techniques, and confidence to assist with ongoing healing and injury prevention.”

This enhanced clinical capability has already led to greater results and guest satisfaction, solidifying Aman Spa’s reputation as a destination for both relaxation and therapeutic excellence.

Compassionate Care: Oncology Massage & Cancer Care

The second phase of training focused on Oncology Massage, a highly specialised area of practice that enables therapists to adapt their techniques for clients affected by cancer. This comprehensive three-day programme, delivered by our School Principal, Marc Innes, provided not only practical techniques but also critical theoretical knowledge, ensuring therapists can safely and confidently support guests at any stage of their cancer journey.

“The three-day Oncology training provided us with vital knowledge and hands-on techniques, enabling us to confidently adapt spa therapies to support our guests at any stage of their cancer journey. We gained a deeper understanding of the fascial network and how to alleviate some of the physiological side effects related to cancer treatment or surgery.”
Rebecca Whaley, Assistant Spa Director, Aman Spa at The Connaught

But the training extended beyond just the therapists. Recognising that compassionate care is a team effort, Marc also educated Aman Spa’s Reception team, enhancing their ability to sensitively guide guests through their spa journey.

Why Touch Matters: The Science of Wellbeing

Massage is not just a physical experience, it is a profoundly therapeutic one. Scientific research has consistently shown that massage can reduce pain, lower anxiety, and improve mood, making it especially valuable for individuals navigating complex health conditions like cancer.

“Massage has been proven to offer a world of wellbeing benefits, from reducing pain perception to improving mental wellbeing. This is especially important for anyone handling a cancer diagnosis,” said Marc. “We are honoured to have empowered the Aman Spa team with these skills, allowing them to offer safe, informed, and compassionate care.”

The benefits of touch therapy are supported by both anecdotal evidence and clinical research. A PubMed study has highlighted that massage can lead to reduced depression and hostility, alongside physiological benefits such as increased levels of serotonin and dopamine – hormones linked to improved mood.

Setting New Standards in Luxury Wellness

By investing in advanced training with The School of Natural Therapies, Aman Spa at The Connaught is leading the way in combining luxury spa experiences with evidence-based therapeutic care. This commitment not only benefits their guests but also ensures that their team of skilled therapists continue to grow professionally.
